Turaniana Archaeological Site

A 13-hectare site that takes us back to the origins of this coastline in the ancient Roman city of Turaniana. One of the most important human settlements in Almería’s history, declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1991.
The Posidonia Oceanica Barrier Reef

It lies off the coast of Roquetas de Mar between Playa de las Salinas and Aguadulce and covers approximately 108 hectares. Declared a Natural Monument in 2001, it is one of the few Posidonia reefs still preserved along the Mediterranean coast.
Ribera de la Algaida Wetland

A natural area of great ecological value which, despite its small size, is a treasure of biodiversity. It is located in Ribera de la Algaida, also known as “El Bosque”, and covers 74 hectares of nature set within the ancient Roman settlement of Turaniana.

It is an important meeting place and a symbol of deeply rooted traditions. Inaugurated in 2002, it has become a landmark of the patron saint festivities in honour of Our Lady of Carmen and Saint Anne, declared of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia.

Bajadilla Beach

Bajadilla Beach is Roquetas de Mar’s quintessential urban beach. It stretches for 1,520 metres of coarse greyish sand—different from many other beaches—and its proximity to the lighthouse and the fishing port makes it a favourite spot for strolls and scenic views.

The Roquetas de Mar Lighthouse is a silent sentinel that, although its beam no longer guides ships, now shines a new light on culture and collective memory. Strategically located next to Santa Ana Castle, it was inaugurated in 1863, with a fixed light and a range of 9 nautical miles.
