Bullring
Stop 4
The bullring of Roquetas de Mar, beyond its bull fighting function, is an important meeting point and a symbol of deeply rooted customs. Inaugurated in 2002, it has become a benchmark for the patron saint festivals in honor of the Virgen del Carmen and Santa Ana, declared a national tourist interest of Andalusia.
It is considered one of the most modern bullrings in Spain. Its architectural design combines contemporary functionality with elements that pay homage to traditional bull fighting aesthetics, creating an imposing space that is also integrated into the landscape of Roquetas de Mar. With a capacity to host over 7,000 spectators, it has witnessed major events since its opening. This venue has hosted great bull fighting masters, such as Enrique Ponce, El Juli, Manzanares, Cayetano, and Torres Jerez, among others.
Although it is primarily known for hosting bull fights and Novillaas, fights with young bulls, during the season, it is especially during the patron saint festivals of Santa Ana that its use transcends the bull fighting sphere. The Roquetas de Mar Bullring has established itself as a vital multi-purpose space for the cultural and social life of the municipality. From concerts by national and international artists that fill the arena with music, to festivals, Equestrian shows, sporting events, gastronomical fairs, and large popular gatherings.
The Bullring represents a significant part of the identity of Roquetas de Mar. A meeting point for the community where both bull fighting traditions and new cultural and leisure expressions are celebrated. It also features the Bull fighting Museum and the Bulls in the Art cycle, key elements for the municipality to showcase the bull fighting tradition from all angles, a place where passion, art, and culture meet.
