Casa Anita Museum
Stop 4
The Casa Anita Museum is a small but charming space that invites visitors to journey into the past, understand the present, and discover the future of Roquetas de Mar.
Located in Plaza de la Constitución, it is an open window into the daily life of a village of fishermen and farmers before the arrival of tourism. Casa Anita is an old traditional dwelling from 1940, which has been restored and converted into a museum. The building comprises a basement and three floors. This exhibition space aims to narrate, disseminate, and highlight the recent history of Roquetas de Mar. This project relies on both innovative and creative multimedia systems, featuring graphics, sounds, and videos, as well as conventional systems with panels and displays, ensuring the content is suitable for any visitor profile.
The museum is divided into several thematic areas, reflecting yesterday, today, and tomorrow. In the yesterday thematic area, emphasis is placed on the development of activities that allowed the municipality’s growth, such as fishing, salt exploitation, agricultural colonization, and the evolution of crops. The today section showcases technological advancements, energy saving, and the municipality’s environmental, social, and intercultural aspects. Finally, tomorrow addresses policies linked to sustainable development goals and serves as a space for presentations and participatory sessions.
The Casa Anita Museum was created with the aim of showcasing local history, specifically the last 50 years, and also serves as a tourist information point. Ultimately, this museum aims to promote, highlight, and disseminate the history and culture of Roquetas de Mar.
